From inside a garden room on an overcast afternoon, camera low and looking out through a full-height steel screen as it wraps a 90 degree corner, the welded corner post central and the mullion rhythm running away to both edges.

Glazed systems
Welded steel screens for when the glass is the wall: full-height rear screens, stair windows, glazed links and corners.
- Glass bay
- 1200 x 3500 mm
- Sightline

- Lead time
- 8 wks
- Water tight to 750 Pa
- Doors and casements within the screen
- Laminated outer pane throughout
The whole glazed systems square on and filling the frame, in the single-plane screen, any number of 1200 mm bays configuration, shot level in flat overcast light against a plain wall so the proportion and the frame-to-glass ratio can be read without perspective.

Close detail of the meeting line at eye level in raking light, tight enough that the joint and the seal are legible and the 52 mm mullion and transom, 60 mm welded corner post sightline can be measured off the frame, with the background thrown out of focus.

The hand-level detail: three-point hook locking on integrated door leaves photographed in use on the hot-dip galvanised then 80 micron powder coat finish, close enough to show the surface texture and the fixing, with a hand on the handle for scale.

From inside the room looking out through the glazed systems, the unit open where it opens, late afternoon light on the floor, so the product is seen the way it is lived with rather than the way it is sold.

The glazed systems at dusk from outside, closed, the room lit behind the glass, so the finish and the glass line read against the light.

Glazed systems
Description
A glazed system is a steel screen that stands in for a wall: fixed bays, opening leaves and corner posts welded into one frame. Glass bays are 1200 mm wide and up to 3500 mm tall, with a 52 mm mullion between them. The frame is anchored to structure on stainless M12 fixings with 15 mm of head deflection allowed, so the building can move without loading the glass. The outer pane is laminated throughout. Where a run turns overhead it is glazed to BS 5516-2 at a minimum 5 degree fall. The structural opening is surveyed and signed off with your engineer before anything is cut.
Specify it when
The right choice when the glass is the wall: a full-height rear screen on an extension, a two-storey stair window, a glazed link between old and new, or a corner where two runs meet on one welded post with no structural column in the view.
