Process

Survey, make, fit

Three stages, one team. We measure, we make, we fit; nothing about the install is subcontracted. Six to eight weeks from survey to install.

  1. Stage 01

    Survey

Everything is measured before anything is made. The consultation narrows the range; the survey fixes the sizes.

    1. Consultation

In the Ealing showroom or at home within 120 road miles. Full-size operating samples, not brochures. The shortlist comes down to two or three options.

    2. Site survey

Every opening measured by the surveyor who will hand the job to the workshop. Structural openings, thresholds, lintels and access checked and recorded.

    3. Written quote

One schedule, every unit sized and specified, in 3 working days. Nothing changes after this unless you change it.

  2. Stage 02

    Make

Sharp's own workshops. Glazing in one, steel in the other, both working to the survey sheet and one finish reference.

    1. Setting out

Drawings issued for approval where the job needs them, including kerb and builder's-work drawings for the roof and any structural openings.

    2. Manufacture

Four to five weeks. Aluminium, timber and uPVC cut, welded or jointed and glazed; steel cut, mitred, welded, galvanised and coated.

    3. Checked before it leaves

Every unit operated, measured against the survey and finish-checked in the workshop, so the fitting day is a fitting day.

  3. Stage 03

    Fit

Sharp fitters only. The same company that measured and made it stands behind it.

    1. Installation

Old units out and new ones in, weathertight the same day. Openings made good, thresholds sealed, site cleared each evening.

    2. Handover

Every unit demonstrated, hardware explained, snags listed and closed. Guarantee and care sheet issued on the day.

    3. Aftercare

10-year guarantee. Adjustments, hardware and glass units handled by the same team that fitted them, from the same office.

Common questions

How firm is the quote before survey?
Firm on product, finish, glass and hardware. Final sizes are confirmed at survey, and the price only moves if the opening differs from what we were given.
How long will I be without windows?
One day per typical opening, and the room is weathertight before we leave it. A whole-house replacement usually runs three to five days.
Do you take the old frames away?
Yes. Removal, disposal and making good the reveal are in the price, not added later.
What does the 10-year guarantee cover?
Frames, finish, sealed units and the installation. Moving parts and seals are covered for ten years and adjusted free of charge in the first year. It is registered to the address at handover and transfers to a new owner.
Can you work to a builder's programme?
Yes. Give us the handover dates and we work six to eight weeks back from each one, phase by phase.
